Great banknotes archive, some very new, some quite old. After seeing them all I can’t argue with my colleagues’ belief that Romania nowadays has some of the worst designed banknotes. Too bad..
Aruba (didn’t even now where they are, or how small or big, but they surely love design – actually, it seems they are part of Holland’s kingdom, and dutch people surely know great design):
Also found these Aruba coins on Wikipedia (I’d really like to have some):
Malta also has wonderful banknotes (I love the back, great colours and illustration):
And last but not least, some Romanian banknotes from 1917, amazing format:

Nice to see the good old ones. Too bad nowadays Disney people seem to think that kids can take any crap they make. Why did they think Mickey’s ears shouldn’t be 2d in any angle anymore ? Wasn’t that part of it’s iconic value, part of Mickey’s brand ? Maybe they just don’t care about that, maybe it’s all for the sales… sad…
Nice contest from Diesel.
This one really got my eye (it’s a wall in Milan). The characters are Blue and Joy. The wall dialogues read “Maybe one day we’ll be on that wall” and “Impossible” (though I think it would’ve been more logical for Blue to say “impossible” :) ).
You can see more of the characters here (it’s interesting how they always remain the same but through nice copy they are given life).
This cover browser is really a great watch. Very interesting thing to see how magazines, comics, manga and such have changed through time, reflecting their era (Superman kicking Hitler’s and Emperor Hirohito’s butts, Transformers at Iwo Jima and many more). One of my favs though is the Incredible Hulk one, drawn in children books style. Reminds me of “Obluda”, a czech children’s book that appears in Monster, a great manga and anime.
By the way, if you really want a good laugh you can also check the worst album covers ever, still on the same page :)
